Mandeville

The first Aussie we met in Jamaica - Ralph Pearce (dressed in black second in from left)

Ralph and wife Pamela (Principal) of Bloomfield Great House in Mandeville, a 200 year old edifice recently restored to its former glory.

Mandeville, Southern Coast is untrampled by the hordes of tourism and presents a unspoilt Jamaica.

Bloomfield's serve excellent food in an intricately restored setting of historic interest, start off with various Australian wines, local soup accompanied with Garlic Bread, Superb menu items include charbroiled filet mignon with sherry sauce and crispy onions, and a delicious version of jumbo shrimp stuffed with jalapeƱo pepper, wrapped in bacon, and served with barbecue sauce. The pastas are house-made. Other menu items include the house specialty, a seafood stew, chock full of shrimp, calamari, and fish in a spicy tomato sauce, known as "Neptune's Delight." Reef and Beef (beer-battered shrimp with filet mignon) chicken Cordon Bleu, and an all-Jamaican version of roasted oxtail with beans are other temptations.
