Meeting the Inbound Team

Last night, the Inbound GSE Team from the Caribbean gave a presentation for the Clarence Valley Rotary Clubs at the South Grafton District Services Club. It was lovely to meet the team - Richard, Trish, Chelsy, Liz and Delia - and see their presentation - getting a sneak preview of St Croix and a little more inside knowledge on pronunciation (it is pronounced St "Croy"). They seem to be having a great time (and also have a blog http://australiaexchange2009.spaces.live.com/ ) and will be on the same QANTAS flight with us in just over 3 weeks as we leave Australia and they begin their journey home.

Their Team Leader Richard Grant gave us some great news - that once we arrive in St Croix we will then go on to Saint-Martin/Sint Maarten, a French/Dutch island, for a one week stay before returning to the US Virgin Islands, possibly via other islands such as the British Virgin Islands. It just keeps getting better and better!!

On Sunday the Inbound Team head north where they will catch up, at some time in the next 3 weeks, with the rest of our team. I look forward to seeing them on and off over the next 9 weeks - it's a bonus to the whole experience that we get to know the other team over such a (relatively) long period of time.

The First Post

One month to go and we're just getting our blog! Oh well, everting else is irie! Gifts are almost done, uniforms organised, brochures and thankyou certificates being printed and flight e-tickets in our eager hands.

This weekend just gone we gave our presentation to our first live audience in Grafton with some very positive and constructive feedback. It feels like a major milestone has been met, and for me at least, a lot of tension has gone (though I suspect that may change in the coming weeks!).

Our formal launch is in 2 weeks in Tweed Heads and then 2 weeks after that we take off for LA, and from there to Miami and then Kingston, JAMAICA!!! How lucky are we?
